Bulk Rename Utility

I just installed BRU 2.7.1.1 BRU_Setup_WinNTx64.exe

The "Bulk rename here" context-menu entry is missing. I even tried reinstalling using "Run as Administrator" on the installer, thinking maybe it had insufficient rights to add an entry to my right-click menu, but this didn't work either.

I've used and enjoyed BRU 2.7.0.1 in the past on 32-bit vista with no problem with the context-menu entry.

Any suggestions? Is this a bug? A Vista 64-bit issue?

Same here with XP SP3, no "Right Click Menu" after installation.
And yes, the "Explorer Extension" was activated during install.

Is there a problem with the new installer?

Same here on Win XP SP 3 32bit. No right-click "BRU Here" option. Went back to version 2.6 and right-click "BRU here" has reappeared.

It would be nice if BRU automatically uninstalled older versions during updates.

Same problem here with XP SP3. Also, coming back to 2.7.0.4 makes "Bulk rename here" to reappear.

Also did install the Explorer option, in my case, on XP SP3...

The "Bulk Rename Here" extension is setup during installation by adding the following registry key to the Windows Registry:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\BRUext\Command

could you please check if you have this key in the registry?

The registry entry is there, but there is no BRUHere.dll in the installer archive (BRU program folder).

I've also installed v 2.7.1.1 on Windows XP SP3 and I do see the "Bulk Rename Here" option on the right-click menu…but only if I'm right-clicking on a folder. In previous versions of BRU I would also see it if I right-clicked on a selected group of files.

Previous versions also had an icon next to "Bulk Rename Here" in the right-click menu…but I don't see that anymore.

I've verified that the registry key mentioned above is present in my registry.

Further info: I have the same behaviour as the post above - I get a Bulk Rename Here menu item if I right click on a folder - not if I click on a file in a folder (this used to occur with previous versions). The BRU icon has also gone.

Ok, I think we missed that one in the latest release, it works for folders but not for files in version 2.7.1.1 !

Could you please also put the DLL back in the ZIP package ("No-Installer")? Because I always use the ZIP and then REGSVR32 the DLL (if it is an updated version). Thanks.
