Postby pixie2000 » Mon Sep 09, 2024 1:16 pm

Hi All,

I have files in the folder, however when i use Bulk Rename Utility & select that folder + Subfolders [check box]
>>>> System shows few files [not all in that folder] not sure what is the reason behind it???
does there any setting which needs to be switch on/off, which will show all files in that specific Folder/Sub-Folders in BRU

Anything "special" with the file attributes in that directory, like is Hidden set?
If so, 12:Filters -> Hidden (enable).

I have exactly the same issue. I can see the files fine in Windows Explorer or Directory Opus but as soon as I go into Bulk Rename, either via the shortcut menu or loading from desktop, there are no files visible in any directory.

I even downloaded the most recent version and removed/reinstalled, that didn't solve the problem.

It was working a couple of days ago. No Windows Updates or other changes since then.

I have the same problem with no files displayed in the BRU window for any folders where I know I have files. I am using the current version, 4.0.0.4, on the current version of Windows, where I am the admin.

I have never had this problem previously. It started within the past month, and I wonder if a recent Windows security setting change might have removed access. I am happy to attach a screenshot for your review, but I see no way to do this from my local drive.

Here's the screenshot. Notice that the folder is my desktop, which always has many files (but they aren't visible inside BRU).https://ibb.co/G2MBvpm

Thanks for your excellent instruction and screenshot. I clicked the box for files and could then see my files, but now BRU is crashing after the Windows blue wheel of death turns for about five seconds. This is all new to me, as I have used BRU for many years without issue. Any suggestions?

I tried several folders, and they all behaved the same way. I noticed it doesn't crash as long as I don't click on the file names, which starts the crash sequence. Also, I went to a folder without files, and it did not crash after clicking the area where files would be displayed.

So it crashes as soon as you select any files from the list? What renaming criteria have do you have set? Does it happen also if you reset all renaming criteria? thanks

I decided the safest approach was eliminating any bugs by deleting my old settings file and the program. A fresh install has resolved the problem. Thanks for your help and persistence!
