BRU file - unintended change in behaviour?

Postby TheGhost78 » Sat Sep 21, 2024 1:23 am

In previous versions, I would right-click on a folder, select Bulk Rename Here, select the files, then go to File > Open and select the BRU file that I want to apply to those files. Following the same process in v4.0.0.0, upon opening the BRU file, the folder selection in tthe left-hand panel goes to This PC instead of remaining on the folder I originally selected.

Hi, I do not think there were any changes to that functionality.
Do you have "Store Pathname" enabled? It's in File - Favourites.
The path location might be stored in the BRU file...

What folder are you right clicking on and selecting Bulk Rename Here? Is it a network path? thanks

Yes, Store Pathname was enabled. I unticked it and now it works as expected. Thanks!

It was happening for all folders that I right-clicked on, regardless of whether they were network paths or not.

All my BRU files leave the pathway blank, so maybe it was interpreting that as 'go to This PC'.

Hi, yes, if store path name is enabled, then BRU will load the path that is saved in the BRU file.
