Implement keyboard-based user productivity enhancements

Postby sbrasel12 » Sun Jan 19, 2025 5:22 pm

For enhanced user productivity please consider implementing the following keyboard-based functionality and shortcuts:

1. During an F2 manual rename, have Tab and Shift-Tab function as in File Explorer: (a) Tab completes the rename and initiates an F2 op on the next item in the list; (b) Shift+Tab does the same but the movement is instead to the previous item.

2. Add keyboard shortcuts for commanding four context-menu actions:
Alt+Enter........(Windows) Properties. This is of course the File Explorer keyboard shortcut for this function.
Ctrl+Alt+Enter..Show List of File Properties
Ctrl+Q...........Open Containing Folder
Ctrl+G...........Show EXIF info (.JPG files)
For the latter three, show the shortcut in the margin of the context menu.
Note that for an existing selection, issuing the command via one of the above keyboard shortcuts would replace the current requisite five-step command procedure, stated for the record below.
- Move mouse pointer to selection
- Right click
- Wait for context menu to appear
- Move mouse pointer to action
- Left click

Great idea, thank you for the suggestions!

However to avoid conflicts I would use:

Alt+P............Show List of File Properties
Alt+Q...........Open Containing Folder
Alt+X...........Show EXIF info (.JPG files)

What do you think?
